1900-1940
In the beginning of the century the company grows fast until the recession strikes. Due to the economic crisis Grasso is taken over by van Heijst.

1903: Willem Grasso dies in Boekel, The Netherlands.

1908: Grasso, 's-Hertogenbossche Machinefabriek, in Vught, The Netherlands with 150 employees celebrates it's 50 years existence

1910: First ammonia compressor is made in Grasso's factory

1911: Grasso starts with the production of refrigeration drums

1912: Grasso becomes the legal form of Ltd. (Dutch: N.V.) and moves back to 's-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands in a new modern factory with an area of some 33.000 m2. In the meantime, they stop the production of butter/margarine machines and continue only with the production of compressors for the refrigeration industry. The first own built horizontal compressor is sold.

1915: The largest horizontal type compressor built in The Netherlands by Grasso during the years 1915 and 1916.

1920: Grasso introduces offices in Soerabaja, Batavia and London, U.K. and has 317 employees of which 59 work in the offices and 258 in the factory. They start to build their own public bath of about 2500 litres capacity. The employees are obliged to take a bath once a week. In the same year Grasso receives a big order for horizontal compressors for an ice installation in Batavia.

1921: 135 Employees out of total of 198 strike against reduction of wages. The strike lasts about 1 month. In the same year Grasso closes the office in Soerabaja, Batavia.

1927: Henri Grasso celebrates 50 years as manager. 260 Employees are employed at the Grasso factory with a turnover of more than 0,5 million Euro.

1928: Big trade fair in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, in which Grasso participates. Grasso exhibits cooling machines for marine purposes.

1929: 165 Employees in the factory, 11 managerial staff and 35 employees in the offices.

1930: The rotating blade compressor developed. Total of 171 employees with 122 working at the factory, 10 managerial staff and 39 employees in the offices.

1932: Total of 109 employees with 79 in the factory, 7 managers and 23 employees in the offices.

1933: The 75th anniversary of the Grasso factory with 16 employees in the offices, 7 managers and 77 employees in the factory. The turnover is Euro 115.260.

1937: Due to the economic crisis, the amount of employees falls back to 50 people and the factory is taken over by the three Van Heijst brothers from The Hague. They paid an amount of Euro 38.571,---. The factory will be led by the brothers Leo and Louis van Heijst. Leo introduces the unique welded steel crankcase of the compressors.

1939: Grasso starts a trade school for fitters, welders and millers.
